Match Group created the Match Group Advisory Council (MGAC), a group of industry-leading experts and advocates involved in the study and prevention of sexual assault, abuse, online harassment, and related issues. The MGAC will have an integral role in the development of Match Group’s safety features and resources and provide guidance on policies and product.
“My hardest days in the organization over ten years were really the rare occasion where you’d see the headline that something happened with one of our users,” said Mandy Ginsberg, Chief Executive Officer of Match Group, adding that “one incident is too many.” Ginsberg is ready to collaborate formally with specialists to find solutions, noting that it is “great there are so many louder and more voices to this than ever before.”
The founding six members of the Match Group Advisory Council are: Scott Berkowitz, President, Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN); Tarana Burke, Founder, “Me Too” Movement; John Clark, CEO, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children; Julie Cordua, CEO, Thorn; Yolanda Edrington, COO, National Sexual Violence Resource Center; Dr. Judy Postmus, Founder, the Center on Violence Against Women & Children, Rutgers University. The MGAC will convene bi-annually to evaluate company policies and provide recommendations on how to improve safety on Match Group platforms.
At Match Group, we use best-in-class technology to prevent, detect, and remove people who engage in inappropriate behavior from our apps. We look forward to collaborating with these established leaders and organizations and expanding on our safety capabilities moving forward.
