I never intended on doing online dating and neither did my significant other. I came across an email advertising Match and thought, “What the hell, I’ll give it a shot.” I was on Match for approximately one month and had several conversations, but nothing worthwhile, until I came across the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. I reached out without any expectations, she responded and that was the first of many great conversations to come. Like me, my partner was hesitant to try online dating and signed up a free trial, after seeing an ad late one night on TV. She was interested in me also, and so she signed up for a month’s membership on a leap of faith. We began talking, specifically through the app to start, which turned into the exchanging of numbers, phone calls and finally meeting one another. Both of us were stuck at home in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which inevitably gave us the time to truly get to know one another. The silver lining in the middle of a crisis.
