Match Group Launches Industry-First Law Enforcement Portal
Verfasst von Match Group

DALLAS, Oct. 10, 2021 -- Match Group announced today that it will launch the first-ever law enforcement portal for the dating industry in the coming weeks, further cementing Match Group’s commitment to safety by creating a new system that will support those investigating dating violence on a global basis.

This is Match Group's latest effort to build and implement new safety technologies as well as collaborate with law enforcement agencies, NGOs, and safety and legal experts to help cultivate a safer society both on and off its platforms.

“I spent 15 years of my public safety career as a police officer, working on the front line with survivors of violence and sexual assault,” said Tracey Breeden, Match Group Head of Safety and Social Advocacy. “We are committed to supporting survivors throughout their journey. If a survivor chooses to report a crime to law enforcement or investigators, this portal will better serve those investigating those reports and aid in prosecution. As a former investigator, information and tools like this can be so valuable to survivors, and those that seek justice on their behalf.”

Match Group developed the portal in consultation with various law enforcement officials and departments representing countries and jurisdictions across the globe. The portal was specifically designed to comply with applicable privacy rules and regulations. Through the online portal, qualified law enforcement authorities conducting an investigation can submit information requests to Match Group and receive the requested information all in one place, creating a more efficient way for them to obtain relevant information.

The portal will accept three tiers of requests from qualified investigators only:

1) a general inquiry to verify that a user has a profile on an app and that there is information available

2) a legal request for more detailed data supported by a warrant, court order, subpoena, or similar document

3) an emergency request to assist an active safety threat.

“Our communities are safer when all participants facilitate access to information and collaborate on these issues,” said Natalie Ludaway, former Chief Deputy, Officer of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. “All too often investigators are working to get justice for victims with limited resources, but tools like this can make a difference. We hope more companies adopt these technologies and build safe spaces both on and offline.”
